With Valentines Day around the corner, blog posts and articles abound on achieving kissable lips. This post takes you a step further and shows you how to create just-kissed nail designs on your date-worthy digits.

You Will Need:

Base and Top Coat: My favorites are OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat and OPI’s Nail Treatments RapiDry Top Coat
Base Color: I've used Essie’s Blanc, a white shade to contrast with the red lips
Lip Design Color: It just seemed right to sport the classic red lip, so I’m using CoverGirl’s Ever Reddy
A Dotting Tool: Go with a professional tool created specifically for creating nail designs or simply use a toothpick

Step 1: Prep your nails using your favorite moisturizing formula, such as the Eve Lom Cuticle Cream.

Step 2: Apply your base coat.

Step 3: Apply 2 layers of the white color to achieve the right level of opaqueness.

Step 4: Spill a small amount of the lip design color into a cup or paper towel. Dip your dotting tool in the pool to get just-enough polish on the tip. Paint a wide upside-down W shape on the tip of each nail, or on some nails for a more minimalist vibe. Dip the tool in the mixture again and paint a wide U below each W, to create the kiss shapes.

Step 5: Let your nails dry completely, keeping in mind that designs take longer to dry because they are thicker than a typical layer of polish. Apply a top coat to seal in the polish and give your nails shine.
